El caso de Santo fue uno de los más conmovedores que hayamos podido tener.  Santo pudo ser rescatado de las dunas donde había sido visto por semanas, gracias a varios avisos de turistas, entres ellos Joe y John que hicieron todo lo posible por poder capturarlo y que se le prestara ayuda.  Ellos contactaron con la protectora y entre todos se pudo capturar.  Santo tenía una cadena de metal incrustada en su cuello, cuando se pudo capturar, tuvimos que llevarle de urgencia al veterinario porque la cadena le estaba ahogando.  Al terminar la cirugía, afortunadamente con éxito una de nuestras voluntarias se ofreció como casa de acogida.  John y Joe se tuvieron que ir, pero prometieron volver cuando Santo estuviese recuperado totalmente para poder adoptarle y llevárselo a su nuevo hogar.  Fueron meses muy complicados, porque Santo desconfiaba de todo el mundo y mostraba los dientes al sentirse agobiado.  Con mucho amor, paciencia y cariño los padres de acogida lograron pequeños avances, y Santo volvió a confiar en las personas.  Transcurrieron 7 meses, tiempo que Santo volvió a ser un perrito alegre, confiado con sus cuidadores y feliz.  John y Joe volvieron como prometieron y le adoptaron.  Ahora ya han pasado 10 añitos de que fue adoptado y es un perro completamente feliz con sus hermanos de cuatro patas perrunos y gatunos.  Mil gracias John y Joe por darle un hogar maravilloso, como este hermoso angelito merecía tener.

Santo’s case was one of the most touching we have ever had. Santo was finally rescued from the dunes where he had been seen for weeks, thanks to several alerts from tourists, among them Joe and John, who did everything possible to capture him and get him help. They contacted the rescue organization, and together we managed to capture him. Santo had a metal chain embedded in his neck, and when he was captured, we had to rush him to the vet because the chain was choking him. After the surgery—which fortunately was a success—one of our volunteers offered to foster him.

John and Joe had to leave, but they promised to return once Santo was fully recovered so they could adopt him and take him to his new home. The following months were very difficult because Santo didn’t trust anyone and showed his teeth when he felt overwhelmed. With a lot of love, patience, and affection, the foster parents managed small improvements, and Santo began to trust people again. Seven months passed, during which Santo became a cheerful dog once more—trusting, comfortable with his caregivers, and happy. John and Joe returned as promised, and they adopted him. It has now been 10 years since he was adopted, and he is a completely happy dog with his furry four-legged dog and cat siblings. A thousand thanks, John and Joe, for giving him a wonderful home, just as this beautiful little angel deserved.

Santos Fall war einer der bewegendsten, die wir jemals hatten. Santo konnte aus den Dünen gerettet werden, wo er wochenlang gesehen wurde dank der Hinweise vieler Touristen, darunter auch Joe und John, die alles Mögliche versuchten, ihn einzufangen und schliesslich um Hilfe baten. Sie nahmen Kontakt zur Tierschutzorganisation auf, und mit Hilfe aller konnte er eingefangen werden. Santo hatte eine eingewachsene Metallkette um den Hals, wir mussten ihn in die Notaufnahme beim Tierarzt bringen, denn die Kette liess ihn fast ersticken. Nach der OP bot sich glücklicherweise eine unserer Freiwilligen als Pflegestelle an. John und Joe mussten abreisen, versprachen aber, zurückzukommen sobald Santo sich vollständig erholt hätte, um von ihnen adoptiert zu werden. Es waren sehr schwere Monate, denn Santo vertraute niemandem und zeigte die Zähne, weil er sich bedrängt fühlte.  Mit viel Liebe, Geduld und Streicheleinheiten erreichten die Pflegeeltern leichte Fortschritte, und Santo fing langsam an, wieder Vertrauen aufzubauen. Es vergingen 7 Monate, bis Santo ei fröhlicher, glücklicher Hund wurde und seinen Pflegern vertraute. John und Joe kamen wie versprochen zurück und adoptierten ihn. Seitdem sind 10 Jahre vergangen, und er ist ein total glücklicher Hund mit seinen vierbeinigen Hunde- und Katzengeschwistern. Tausend Dank an Joe und John, dass ihr ihm ein wunderbares Zuhause gebt, das er mehr als verdient hat.
